

La Brigue is one of the village of the "Roya" valley,
of which the branch of the "Lascaris" is stemed from the
one of the "Comtes de Tende"; from this renowned family,
it still remains the vestiges of the medieval castel which
has resisted to several attacks.
The "Collégiale Saint Martin"
Of Roman Lombard style with some Gothic influences, it
has been rebuilt for the most part at the end of the XV
century, it shelters wealthy decoration of primitive paints
like the "Crucifixion", the triptych of "Sainte Marthe"
and the Nativity Panel attributed to "Louis de Brea".
The "Chapelle de l'Annonciation"
Situated near the "Collégiale", this chapel, of baroque
style, is today a museum of Religious Art.. The Chapelle
de l'Assomption Situated on the right of the big place,
this chapel exposes to view a baroque front.
Notre Dame des Fontaines
It is certainly one of the most beautiful chapel of all
the country of Nice. It has some outstanding fresco dating
from the second part of the XV century, work of the painter
"Jean Canavesio", native from the "Piemont". We will discover
11 scenes illustrating the life of the Blessed Virgin,
the chilhood of Jesus and the Passion Cycle.
Do Not Miss:
Visit of the old village, the chapel of the Assumption
and of the Annunciation nearby the church. The visit of
"Notre Dame des Fontaines" (5km from La Brigue, alt: 800m),
place of pilgrimage surrounded of seven sources reputed
miraculous. The fresco and the paints of the chapel are
beautiful, trace of the history of the Christian Religion.
The mount "Rego" (Vallee des Merveilles)
is visibled below an angle more attractive.
