The
village of Fontan, nestled in the valley gorge along the
clear waters of a mountain torrent, offers an exceptionally
pleasant and green environ at an altitude of 450 meters.
Occupying a particularly prestigious piece of land, Fontan
was originally established along the salt route which
connected the French Cote dAzur with the Italian
Piedmont region (30 kilometers from Menton on the Vintimille-Fontan
rail line).
The
visitor will be immediately charmed by the villages
cobbled streets, the 17th century Baroque church, the
central fountain with its inexhaustible waters, and the
wonderfully preserved old-world buildings.
Dont
miss
the 17th century Baroque church, the fountains, the chateau
de Caussegue and the hamlet of Berghe, the Berghe valley
gorge with its red-mineral walls, the Maline grottos,
and the Nice-Conti rail line.
